    The NSW Food Authority recommends 3 ways to defrost chicken and red meat - in the refrigerator, cold water or the microwave defrost setting.

    Meat that has been defrosted in the fridge can be kept for an additional 1 to 2 days in the refrigerator. If defrosted properly & kept cold it can be refrozen for pet food.
